Public service is a calling that I have never been able to ignore. My home city of Chicago, which originally ignited this passion, is a constant reminder for me of the need for humble service in a world of persistent social injustices. Educated at the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Political Science and an interdisciplinary minor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), I followed the calling of service as a teacher volunteer at a rural orphanage in Thailand. I have also worked on immigration advocacy while an intern in the Office of Peace and Justice in Chicago's Catholic Archdiocese. Principally, my calling to public service is rooted in politics, having spent the Fall of '06 interning for Council Member Gale A. Brewer of the New York City Council and the Summer of '07 working for Representative Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives. At Wagner, I have found a public service home in many places: as a research assistant at the Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy, in my urban planning courses, and in provocative roundtable discussions hosted by Wagner's many renowned programs and institutes. You can find me around the Puck building working on PlanNYC.com, arguing about political philosophy, and picking fights about Notre Dame football.
